Some Tips and Tricks

  • Name cell ranges you use in formulas. It makes your functions easier to understand. =MAX(Highs) is a lot more meaningful than =MAX (F2:F92).

  •

  • Name cell ranges you use in macro code. This makes it both easier to write the code and reduces the possibility of error. The named range Max contains the upper boundary value for the price scale. When writing macro code it is easier to refer to .Range (‘Max”) rather than .Range (“N4”).

  •

  • To maintain flexibility let Excel do as much of your calculation as possible. For example, we could have written macro code which would have calculated the upper and lower boundaries for the price scale. If for some reason if you want to adjust the price scale it is a easier to edit the formula on the worksheet and click on a button rather than finding and changing the macro code.
