Network Users: Make your own alternate Excel start directory
You may find that an alternate start-up directory is the better
solution because it can be located either on your local hard drive
or on the network. The first step in creating an alternate start-up
directory is to use the File Manager to create the directory you'll
use as your alternate startup directory.
Once you've created your alternate start-up directory, you
need to identify it.
- Choose Options... from the
Tools menu
- Click the General tab.
- Alternate Startup File Location:
edit box, type the complete path of the directory you've just
created, in which you will store the files you want to open when
you open
- Excel. For example, enter:

- Click OK for the changes to take effect.
If you have already created the workbook files you want to
open automatically, copy them to this directory. Remember to
save any new files you want to auto-open into this directory
too.
