multiple workbooks in excel -

I have a timer macro in the macro code section of the workbook. A timer resides in the workbook when another
workbook is opened in the session, as the timer tries to
run the macro in the current workbook which does not
have the sheets/ranges it is looking for. how do I manage this,I noticed that the thisworkbook can have a name, any help greatly appreciated. thanks
